I remember when I was discussing the first round piece with Yvona. From the get-go, we knew it was going to be an already existing composition, rather than something composed for the movie itself. Yvona immediately pitched Passacaglia and it was a no-brainer from there. This scene in the movie is a rather lonely one. We shot it in a way that makes Lea feel completely alone in the world. Passacaglia complements that idea perfectly in my opinion: it’s a very beautiful piece, but the undertones feel extremely sad and lonely to me.
