Lyrics

If I could buy time and keep it in the bank
Just for when I’d want to feel this way again
As I pace around, back and forth in my bedroom
I don’t know if later’s too fast or too soon

And right now (Right now)
It feels like it will last forever
When you want to (Want to)
Get to the next chapter
But time takes a break from running
And lets you catch it this time around
Divine irony won’t let it slow (Won't let it slow)
Unless if it’s not what you wanted (What you wanted)
And from the inside it feels like forever
But deep down you know it won’t last long (Won't last long)

There’s a kid running around in circles (Running around)
For him right now every minute’s an hour
He catches every hand on the clock in their movement (Ah, Ah)
Their Charleston is a slow waltz in stop-motion

And right now (Right now)
It feels like it will last forever
When you want to (Want to)
Get to the next chapter
But time takes a break from running
And lets you catch it this time around
Divine irony won’t let it slow (Won't let it slow)
Unless if it’s not what you wanted (What you wanted)
And from the inside it feels like forever
But deep down you know it won’t last long (Won't last long)

It’s watching a movie after a year of waiting
It’s “All Too Well” in the refrigerator light
"Shake It Off" with friends in the Airbnb
And still asking if you will call me maybe
So close your eyes
Notice your heartbeat running
The smile that can’t be hidden
The running thoughts that keep repeating
And how your feet are slowly jumping in place

And time stopped moving
So write a song, bathe in it

And I won’t confess that I cried
When I found out the moment passed

Beyond the Song: a Letter from Anthony

I have never been one to start a project impulsively, let alone push it at the top of my priorities, but this song was just itching to get out and I didn’t want to fight it. Won’t Last Long was actually originally written on November 20, 2025, after I couldn’t keep myself in check as the excitement to go watch Wicked: For Good was making time staying still. The song was about that feeling of time not budging no matter how desperate you are for it to haste. That was kind of what it was back then, just waiting its turn until, it just didn’t want to anymore. When I traveled to Europe in May 2026, I found myself going back to this song a lot, and I just knew. Once I got back, I immediately got back to work. It took a while, but I eventually landed on something I loved. A little fun fact, I wrote this right after submitting it for release. And what a day it was. I remember receiving some CDs I ordered, and not just any: signed ones from three of my favorite artists. And I even posted it on Instagram, all while thinking “Wow, I hope that someday I will be signing CDs”. Today may not be the day, but it’s the first step. My first musical project, completely independent from any movie. May it not be the last.
